Why do I run?
So why do it then?
There are those days however, when the running is easy and effortless. Then I know why I run. I run because I can. And since I can I should do it. (Maybe tomorrow I can't.) I run because I really like the way I feel after I have run. My body feels great! My legs and lungs feel better. I love the challenge of doing something that takes some work to accomplish. Just because something is hard doesn't mean that one shouldn't do it. I love the adventure and sense of accomplishment on making it to the end.My Top 10 Reasons:
- I have another reason to shop for shoes.
- I get to wear cool looking clothes.
- I can keep up with the kids (sort of)
- I get to hang out with a bunch of healthy looking people.
- Envy. I can't stand watching runner's go by; I have to participate.
- I tend to drink more water.
- I tend to eat better.
- I am more flexible.
- I get more endurance for regular life.
- I get great legs.
Surprise
As a slow runner I am used to being slow and staying slow. But I read somewhere, that in order to get faster, one must run faster. So . . . I tried it. I still can't maintain the speed for very long, but what surprised me, was, it was fun. Caveat: I did have a cold and was on cold medicine, but I could still breathe and such, so I went for it. Crank the treadmill up (within reason that is) and go. It certainly couldn't hurt. I used to be sure that I only had one speed. Robert took me out to the track to prove to me I had more than one speed. So now I have found out that I am capable of several speeds. I have slow, slower still, slowest and just stop and walk. But still, how exciting to have speeds.
