Las Vegas Marathon

Las Vegas Marathon, Nevada.  December 2, 2007
It was the most fun I have had since Portland!   I would recommend it.

First our flight was cancelled and we slept in Nisku - great start.
Anyway we made it to the Santa Run Race pickup and the Marathon Expo.
The Santa run had over 7,000 santa's so we made the guiness book of
world records for a whopping 1 week until Ireland surpassed the record.

Here are some pictures:  http://www.dolphinstreet.com/running/

After the Santa thing we changed into our Elvis costumes for our photo op.
There were 208 Elvis.

Marathon morning was amazing - the sun was coming up, there were
fireworks and music.  All the Elvis got to be gated along side the
front runners.  So I saw Robert as he went to the sub 3 hour category.
There were 18,000 runners and I got to be near the front!   We ran to
the 5 MIle mark and stopped for 16 minutes for a 3 minute wedding.  We
had to wait for all the 55 couples to come.  It was really cool!
Only 4500 did the Marathon so most Elvis left.  My time not counting
the wedding 5:35:58. Unofficial new PR.  My chip time including the
wedding: 5:51.

I phoned Jess at Mile 16, Robert phoned me at Mile 18 to tell me he
qualified for Boston.  I caught up to some lady from Calgary who was
walking and told her to run with me to the end - and she actually did!
We met a Reporter from Vogue Italy who promised to send us a copy of
the magazine if he used our 'elvis photos'.
I think I am going to need a second job.

There were a lot of Canadian runners at Vegas - It was a fantastic
course and good weather.  We will probably do that one again.
